Jabab Wood Works (JWW) has been established as a sister concern to Big Bhutan Charcoal Pvt. Ltd., with a primary focus on supplying quality timber to both domestic and regional markets. The strategic linkage between the two entities enables a circular economy model, where waste materials generated from JWW—including off-cuts and sawdust—are efficiently repurposed as raw materials for charcoal production.
This synergy not only minimizes industrial waste but also enhances resource efficiency. Sawdust, a by-product of the sawmilling process, will be utilized in the production of wood briquettes, which are subsequently carbonized to form charcoal briquettes—an eco-friendly alternative to traditional fuels.
Looking ahead, JWW envisions the establishment of a modern wood thermal treatment plant, aligned with national goals of value addition and sustainable industrial transformation. This advancement will further position JWW as a key player in modernizing Bhutan’s wood-based industry sector.
